CAVEAT CRAVAT, 2023
Archival inkjet print on Hahnemühle paper, 25.75 x 12.5 inches
CAVEAT CRAVAT (Well, Not Everybody) transforms a typical monument to a caped ‘super-hero’ Founding Father, yoked by a contraption that can be a joker’s accessory or a painful manacle inflicted on slaves. He ascends with arms extended in a proclamatory gesture, only to say “well, not everybody!” The rights enshrined in the Constitution were not extended to all. The cravat tumbles with endless exceptions or omissions.
